Jessica Hernandez Live in Concert

This release is the follow up to "Introducing Jessica Hernandez & the Deltas" shot in Detroit 2012. Shot in Multi-Cam this is a great look at the intimate atmosphere Jessica creates while preforming on stage. She sings, she plays a mean organ and the guitar and even cracks jokes to a buzzing audience of loyal listeners, industry insiders and newly found fans at the Magic Bag. Heavily influenced by Rock-&-Roll, Latin American music and Jessica's own multi-ethnic upbringing on the South West of Detroit her sound is distinct and her vocal textures gritty but yet polished like the voices of Motown legends; Aretha-Franklin & Diana Ross .

Jessica Hernandez - EPK Package & Behind the scenes

This is a "Behind the Scenes/ EPK package" shot in Detroit in the Summer of 2012. Jessica and the band prepare for their record release and concert gig. The shoot covered the three days leading up to the show at The Magic Bag in July. We visited some of Jessica's local favorites, including Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak, and the group during rehearsal at their Mexican Town loft space.

BURN: One year on the frontline in the battle to save Detroit

Client: Call Box Pictures

This is the story of "BURN". Spanning the course of nearly three-years filming in Detroit, this is the tale of a big city fire department struggling under massive lay-offs, budget cuts, and a serious crime epidemic. These firemen & women work hard, long hours and our crew worked alongside them in 24-hour shifts to document their story in a way it has never been told before. Using a combination of DLSR cameras and Contour helmet-cams, the footage seen in "BURN" is some of the most compelling in the world of cinematography. Executive producers Dennis Leary and Jim Serpico helped bring this film to the finish line in April 2012 where it debuted in New York winning the "Audience Choice - Best Documentary Award" at the prestigious Tri-BeCa film festival. The film is currently screening at various cities around the country and raising money for both the Leary Firefighters foundations, the DFD and further distribution cost. Un'altra America (Another America)

Produced for Swiss Public Television with an intended European audience this documentary tells the stories of eight people who have remained in Detroit trying to give a meaning to the chaos and uncertainty that comes with living in one of America's most distressed cities. Refusing to give up hope and the possibility of creating a better future, even when everything seems lost, this film produced by Patrick Soegel, is a reflection on the evolution of the post-industrial American society.

Nain Rouge - Short Film

Client: Anawim Productions

"NAIN ROUGE" is the story of Jason, a young man visiting the city of Detroit for the first time. When he finds himself lost and unable to find a way home, Jason learns the true consequences of his actions and what it means to trespass in places he does not belong on Devil's Night. The title of the film refers to the legendary Nain Rouge, or Red Dwarf, of Detroit. This mythic figure has been a part of Michigan lore for more than 400 years and is said to be a harbinger of doom for the Motor City.

Eminem - Fast Lane (Behind the Scenes)

Client: Outfit Media Group

This was the official Shady Records behind-the-scenes look at the music video shoot for Fast Lane featuring "Bad meets Evil" ,the alter egos of both Royce Da 5'9 & Eminem. Shot in May 2011 this was for the first single off the Fast Lane EP. Marshall and Royce get dirty in an old warehouse in Detroit while animated words interact with the artist during their equally animated performances.

Eminem - Recovery Album Documentary

Client: Outfit Media Group

Produced in 2010 this EPK was shot to promote both Eminem's "Recovery" album & concert series in Detroit & New York. Speaking to "those in the know" about Detroit, its music scene, and the city's impact on the life and career of Marshall Mathers (aka Eminem), the film documents both Detroit and Marshall's ongoing recoveries. My responsibilities as 2nd Unit DP included shooting the Detroit B-roll footage, interviews with locals as well as Eminem himself, and live DSLR video of the two concerts at Comerica Park.

Requiem for Detroit?

Client: BBC Europe

Requiem for Detroit is a critically-acclaimed BBC Europe documentary. Shot by Julien Temple in 2008 (released in 2009), it is a work of artistic expression rarely seen in television documentary films. Temple's ability to capture the abstract as well as the real is beautifully mixed with a blend of actual news reel footage of some of Detroit's most important historical events, present day cinematography of Detroit's famous ruins and projected images of people and events that shaped the city.

Skills include: Location scouting & logistics, waiver writing, licensing agreements, copyrighting, budgeting, and research writing. A strong overall knowledge of the operations needed to complete a shoot and take it through to the post-production stage. Production & pre-production location work done for the BBC on the feature film “Requiem for Detroit” (Dir. Julien Temple). Campaign concept and script writing work seen in Reuther Middle School web campaign, "Making the Connection" & "College Ready, Career Ready, Life Ready" as well as the doDetroit TV pilot "Nikki Does Detroit....A food lovers guide to the D".

Skilled include: Expertise in both studio and on-location production. A broad and vast knowledge of HD digital cinematography using Canon EOS Cameras. Specialty camera work in the areas of Time-lapse and Motion Controlled photography as well as 2 years experience as a Glide-Cam operator on location. Familiar with all standard analog & digital formats including mini-DV, Beta, Digital Beta, SDHC, P2, and all forms of Compact Flash media. Extensive experience working on both independent films, live concert and performance events and documentary projects as a Director of Photography, 1st Operator or 2nd Unit shooter.
